The proposal for the consolidation of a Scientific Diving Unit responds to the need to expand the availability of this specialty of diving to all academic groups of CURE and UdelaR, providing technical services, training and diving equipment of the Coastal Heritage Research Center (CIPAC).
To accomplish this we aim to strengthen the relationship with all colleagues working in aquatic environments and can benefit from the incorporation of diving activities into their projects, whether it for underwater observations, sampling, exploration, etc.
Also establish a regular program of activities for the training of scientific diving beginning with spaces in confined waters (pool) and facilitate the practice to add experiences in various subjects: underwater registration, photography, video, measurement, navigation – orientation, prospecting, search and recovery of objects – equipment, diving practices with reduced or no visibility, use of diver communication equipment – surface, planning, optimization of underwater work, safety, maintenance of equipment.
