CIPAC PARTICIPATES IN A CEREMONY TO SIGN THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE MUNICIPALITY OF COLONIA DEL SACRAMENTO AND THE UNIVERSIDAD DE LA REPÚBLICA

On May 29, the CIPAC’s professor, Prof. Dr. Rodrigo Torres, has been in Colonia del Sacramento to personally deliver the agreement for research between the Municipality of Colonia del Sacramento and the Universidad de la República for the study and mapping from Colonia Bay in the buffer zone.

The agreement was signed by the mayor of Colonia del Sacramento, Dr. Carlos Moreira Reisch, the rector of the Universidad de la República (UdelaR), Rodrigo Arim, and the director of the Eastern Regional University Center (CURE), Joaquín Marqués.
This agreement is signed taking into account the long maritime, cultural and social history of the region, since the waters of the Bay of Colonia and its insular zone, house an important, but still little known, Maritime and Underwater Cultural heritage.

Who benefits from this type of agreement is the Uruguayan society, because it guarantees cultural heritage and knowledge to the community and generations to come.
